Mexican Food in Del Mar — Full Bar & Coastal Fish Tacos

El Pueblo Del Mar is our flagship bar and dining location — 2673 Via De La Valle, Suite C, minutes from the beach, the racetrack, and the Del Mar Horsepark. This is the El Pueblo you come to when you want the full coastal-Mexican experience: 32 craft beers on tap, a full bar, an outdoor patio, and the fish tacos that made us famous, served alongside a mezcal flight if you're in the mood.

Family-owned, the Del Mar location has been featured in Marketplace, LAist, and the San Diego Union-Tribune for the $1.39 fish taco we've never raised the price on. Locals drop in after surf sessions. Racetrack crowds stop through on their way home. Post-work tables stretch into the evening as the patio fills up.

Full Bar, Outdoor Patio, and Coastal Fish Tacos

Beers on tap cover the essentials and the deep cut — Mexican classics like Pacifico, Modelo, and Victoria, plus San Diego craft staples and seasonal rotations. Beyond the taps, the full bar pours every classic spirit — whiskey, bourbon, vodka, gin, rum — alongside premium tequila and mezcal, wine by the glass, classic cocktails (old fashioneds, palomas, mojitos), house margaritas, and a spicy margarita that Del Mar regulars order by the pitcher.

The patio is the signature room. Outdoor tables, heat lamps for cold nights, and enough space for a private party of 12 without feeling cramped. If you're planning an event — birthday, bachelorette, work dinner, engagement — the Del Mar patio is the one most locals book. Minimum party size for reservations is 8.

Finding Us Off Via De La Valle

We're on Via De La Valle just east of the 5, in the shopping strip at 2673. Easy freeway access, easy parking, a five-minute drive from Del Mar Beach, Torrey Pines State Beach, or the racetrack. Locals from Solana Beach, Rancho Santa Fe, and Carmel Valley come in regularly — we're the halfway point between all three, and the last stop before the coast.

1st time here and will be returning for sure! The fish tacos were amazing and the best price in town! Only $1.39 per fish taco! Unbelievable! I ordered 3 and made it a combo by adding side or rice and beans. All under $10! They have a salsa bar and a nice selection of drinks. Including horchata and Jamaica water! There's indoor seating. And covered patio.seating as well . Its right off. Location is also convenient close to the 5 fwy!

I grew up in San Diego, went to college in the Bay Area, and live in Los Angeles currently so feel that I really know good Mexican food and can honestly say this is some seriously delicious Mexican. I grew up in the area so I’ve been coming to this shopping center for decades, and I’ve seen all the different restaurants in this location and would say this is probably my favorite of the bunch so far. Inside is really large, they have a full bar, a full salsa bar, and a ton of seating options. You place your order at the counter and they either bring it to you or you can choose to go. Service was very fast and friendly, and my favorite part was how delicious it was.
The salsa itself was also very good, I still think Roberto‘s has the best salsa in town, but El Pueblo has better burritos. I was actually impressed with how good the food was. This morning we stopped in for fish tacos and breakfast burritos and thought they were fantastic. The fish taco is a little bit smaller than you usually get here in town but had great flavor and the breakfast burritos both the chorizo and the bacon were delicious. The tortilla was also very fresh and I already want to come back soon to try a Cali or a Carne Asada burrito. I would highly recommend to anyone and will be back many times in the future.

Hadn’t been here since it was the make-your-own pizza place — I can’t believe they’ve been here for 8 years now!
We sat at the (small) bar and totally lucked out with Joe as our bartender. He was awesome — super attentive, checked in on us (and everyone) often, and provided fast service. You can tell he really cares about the patrons. He also makes great drinks. The Paloma is one of his specialties, and I also tried the Siesta from their feature menu of the month (Jan 2026), which was really good. I was a little hesitant to try the Paloma because some places make it too tart, but his was very well balanced. Same with the Siesta — I thought it might be lime-forward and tart, but it was surprisingly smooth and balanced.
They have a full bar, so if you’re not into beer, there are plenty of other options. They also have an outdoor patio area, which is great for families or kids’ sports teams after a game.
Good Mexican food without restaurant-level prices. I’d say it’s like an upscale taco shop, but better. The staff is really nice and friendly, and there are lots of regulars. They also have TVs in the bar area and show UFC fights, so check their website for details.
It does get really busy, which is great for the business, but they have a good system to move people along. You order at the front, and if the bar area isn’t too busy, they’ll call you over and assist with your order. They currently have happy hour every day from 2pm–7pm and again from 11pm–12am for late-night happy hour.

Amazing Mexican Food. Great place to go when you're waiting for kids to finish soccer practice or games nearby the Del Mar Surf Sports Park. The staff here is also extremely friendly and knowledgeable, including Jeremiah Funes. Great ambience, great food, great people.
